Methodology and Limitations
Who publishes this
Open Stock Data is operated by Family Chat Cloud Pte Ltd, UEN 202611437W, with a registered address at Blk 250 Bishan Street 22 #05-390 Singapore 570250. It is a research interface. No analyst is employed, and nothing on the site is investment advice.
Where the data comes from
- Company financial statements, filings, insider transactions, institutional and fund holdings and other company records come from our data providers.
- Prices come from our provider. Market capitalisation, price ratios and price performance are worked out from those prices and the reported figures.
- Some pages add other public records and news, also from our providers.
- Company names are shown exactly as the provider lists them.
Dates covered
Data runs from 2009 to today. Earlier history is not included yet, so a long history starts in 2009, or at a company's first filing after that, rather than at the company's founding.
How values are shown
- A missing value is shown as "(m)". It is never filled with a guess, carried over from a nearby date or shown as zero.
- Each figure names its period length, such as "Net income 3 month" and "Net income 12 month". A quarter that is not filed on its own, such as a fourth quarter, is worked out from the filed year-to-date totals, and a 12 month figure is the sum of four back-to-back quarters.
- The date a value refers to, its fiscal period and the date it was filed are kept apart, and annual totals and quarterly values are not mixed in one series.
- Long tables are split into pages by period, such as a year, a quarter or a month, with at most 100 rows a page.
Limits
- Filed data is revised. Restatements, amended filings and corrections change published values, and an earlier page view may not match a later one.
- Coverage is companies and ETFs listed in the United States. Pages are made from retained data, so a new listing or a new filing appears only after the next update.
- Data can be incomplete or contain errors from its provider or from processing. Check anything important against the company's own filings before relying on it.
Not investment advice
Nothing on Open Stock Data is a recommendation to buy, sell or hold any security. Analyst ratings are shown as the research firms published them, and the Roast Me stars only count how a stock did against the S&P 500 in past quarters.
Reporting an error
Corrections are welcome and are the fastest way a wrong value gets fixed. Send the page URL, the figure you believe is wrong and the filing or source you are comparing it against to admin@noler.com. Corrections are applied at the source of the data, so the fix reaches every page derived from it, not only the page reported.
